Danielle Steel probably owns the most haute couture in all of San Francisco, but the writer —who splits her time between this city and the City of Lights— is surprisingly low-key in her daily routine. "My normal everyday uniform is black jeans, a black sweater, black shoes (I love shoes!), a long ponytail and no makeup," she tells T Magazine. She tries harder in Paris, wearing heels and unique or historic jewelry and carrying "good bags." It's little wonder then that her Paris shopping recommendations include Chanel, Hermès, Prada, and trendy boutique Colette. But for the more guilt-free purchases, she suggests Zara (which she could visit right here in San Francisco). Keep an eye out in Union Square for this incognito fashion icon, and scope her affordable picks to add to your own (possibly less fancy) closet.
