Chaiken's Holiday Lookbook: Less Conservative Than You Think

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Chaiken is an old school (well, the '90s is old school to some!) San Francisco brand that brings to mind proper slacks and tailored, work-appropriate blazers. But the designer's holiday lookbook will have you thinking differently. With leather jackets and vests, metallic jeans and tuxedo pants, this collection is a bit edgier than you might typically expect of Julie Chaiken's eponymous clothing line, which she relaunched last spring. Of course you'll also find a lovely pencil skirt and a Gary Danko-ready silk blouse and dress. The overall mix, though, has something for everyone.
