Oakland-based quilt-maker Carrie Vawter uses things like bleach and black tea to achieve the other-worldly colors in her fabrics. The FIDM grad is also inspired by ancient mystic sites and the lost city of Atlantis, so it's no surprise that her quilted pieces don't resemble your typical Amish fare. The are probably the coolest, most modern quilts we've encountered, ever. [DailyCandy]
