It's inevitable: the new year brings the urge for self-improvement. You want to get healthier, lose weight, be more social, do stuff that makes you happy—or maybe all of the above? Here's an idea: instead of staring at a mind-numbing screen at the gym, here's a guaranteed way to achieve all that. Go to ODC in the Mission and take some dance classses.
Does that sound kind of intimidating? Then the timing is perfect. The Rhythm and Motion Dance Program at ODC is offering 10 days of "absolute beginner" classes starting today, and the classes are only $5 each. The styles range from Afro-Hatian to flamenco to "soul dance" to samba. Check out all the classes and times here. And know that this is not a situation where mean dance instructors will be barking out postions you've never heard of or making you feel sad that you suck at dancing. Au contraire, Rhythm and Motion's mottos is: "When in doubt, shake your bootie." Come to think of it, that's a pretty good overall motto for 2013, don't you think?
