Diesel Is Out in the Castro, Is Apple In?

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

An informant tells us the Diesel store in the Castro (at the corner of Castro and Market), which was previously a Bank of America, has shut down after getting hit with a reported 50% rent hike. The windows are papered and a sign thanks customers and directs them to the Union Street store (thanks, @Real_Housebear!). And rumor has it—dun dun dun—an Apple Store might be headed into the space. It would be the fourth in SF. Bonus: Apple's colors will match the neighborhood flag! If you've heard anything, please hit the tipline!
