Bay Area folks are so lucky. We can hike and enjoy the great outdoors all year round—which is a really great excuse to buy cute new hiking boots every season. Richmond-based Ahnu makes it easy for the fashionably-inclined to find a not-ugly, super-functional boot, whether for a hard-core backpacking or a weekend walking on scenic trails. Our favorite is the Sugarpine, an incredibly soft and comfy boot. But if you're planning to carry lots of heavy things like tents and food and other means of survival across miles of terrain—kudos to you—and you might want to go for the Montara. Both are waterproof, breathable, shock absorbent, and sturdy. And if you just want something comfy to slip on and off before and after yoga, they've got something for you, too.
