Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
When we spotted Yasmin Sanie-Hay in Union Square floating down the sidewalk wearing this jaw-dropping duster, we could not allow her to pass by without asking for a photograph. Pakistani designer Akif Mahmood created it—as you can see he has a modern take on traditional silhouettes and textiles.
And we weren't a bit surprised to find that Sanie-Hay is in the fashion industry herself—she's CEO of Ziba Style, an invite-only website where you can shop little known, international, luxurious designers like Mahmood. Her blue snakeskin booties are Giuseppe Zanotti.
