Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Our sister site Racked National just published a chat they had with New York jewelry design darling Erica Weiner about her plans for world domination. Or at least her plans to open up shop in the West. With a store in Manhattan's Nolita neighborhood for the past two years and a newer location in Brooklyn's Boerum Hill neighborhood, San Francisco seems the next logical step. But apparently we have competition of the Pacific Northwest: Portland is also on Weiner's short list. Keep an eye out here to find out who wins the honors (thought it seems an obvious choice to us).
She says she thinks Steven Alan has a sixth sense about neighborhoods, so potentially look for her in Hayes Valley or the Fillmore. And in the meantime, read her interview to learn more about introducing antique materials to her line, as well as her tastes in mayonnaise and rap music.
