Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
It must be a sign of the times—either economically or when it comes to our collective interior tastes—that Rachel Ashwell has brought her Shabby Chic Couture housewares store back to the very same neighborhood where she shuttered one during the recession. A spanking new Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture is now open at 3095 Sacramento Street at the former Sarah Shaw location at the corner of Baker. The 1,200 square foot space carries furniture, bedding, textiles, home accessories, as well as one-of-a-kind vintage furniture and home goods—all in the spirit of objects meant to look well-loved in a pretty way. The store also offers an in-home design consultation service—call 415-929-2990 for an appointment. The SF store brings the number of Shabby Chic Couture stores back up to five after it plummeted from 15 to four post-recession.
