There may be nothing in fashion that's obsessed over as much as a pair of shoes. Shoes can make you taller, and they will never make you feel fat. They can exert your individuality or, if you're so inclined, your status. Bottom line, we need them for one of life's most basic activities—walking—so might as well make them interesting. And they're hopefully comfortable as well (we're optimists around here).
Shoe passions run equally strong for a colorful cowboy boot, a sky-high platform, or a sensible pump. And you'll find all of the above honored here at Racked SF this week. Some are more challenging than others in the context of San Francisco's fickle weather and copious hills. But we pull of fashionable footwear with serious style nonetheless. Half of our coverage will be dedicated to footwear, including everything from the shops that enable our shoe fetishes, to the shoemakers in the Bay Area, to the people who do the fetishizing, and some surprises in between. We hope you find a pair or three and a story to go along with them that strikes your fancy.
