Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
San Franciscans have been dying to know where an SF Topshop might be located ever since the company hinted in February that it would venture into the Bay Area. Our hopes for a Topshop at the current Levi's space in Union Square were dashed when we discovered that Apple would move to that location. So, maybe Topshop will move to the current Apple space?
OR, will perhaps Topshop move into the currently under-construction Market Street Place, a 250,000-square-foot retail center scheduled to open in 2015? An observant reader pointed us to this Gensler (the project's architectural firm) rendering, which features a giddy-making Topshop sign. Linda Alexander, who's in charge of leasing the Mid-Market space, told said reader that it's just a rendering, but that Topshop "is a tenant we are talking with." Bam! Note, this rendering of the same section of the development does not include the Topshop signage—interpret that information however you like. As much as we do hope the talks work out, we don't relish the thought of waiting two years for an SF Topshop. Alexander has not yet returned an email from Racked, but we'll keep you updated as we hear more, and we'd love it if you returned the favor.
