Richmond Retail

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Alexandria Theater at 18th Ave. and Geary in the Richmond has sat vacant since 2004, but the SF Planning Commission has finally approved the space for a new housing, restaurant and retail space. No word yet on what retail we should expect, but it will also accompany a 211-seat movie theater and an underground parking garage. Elevation Architects is designing the space and they plan to keep many of the art-deco aspects of the building. This sounds like it's going to be good—we'll keep you posted as we learn more.
