BERKELEY—Tonight marks the reopening of Chez Panisse following that fire they had in March, and we spoke with Alice Waters all about what's changing (like the menu in the Cafe), and what's staying the same.
SOMA/CHINA BASIN—Popular fried chicken window Little Skillet is expanding into the next-door space formerly occupied by nightclub 330 Ritch, which had to close earlier this year after a shooting. The new restaurant should open by August.
THE MISSION—It's been one year since Craftsman & Wolves came on the scene with their excellent, original pastries and baked goods. We spoke with pastry chef William Werner about his first year, and the cupcake prank he played on customers this week.
LOS GATOS—Manresa chef de cuisine Jessica Largey was named this week one of the Eater Young Guns Class of 2013. She'll be feted Monday in Los Angeles.
POTRERO—The couple behind Chambers Eat + Drink is expanding to the Project One Gallery space, but the new bar does not yet have a name.
HAYES VALLEY—Pastry place and wine bar Muka is debuting in a new location tonight at the former Blue Muse on Grove Street. And there will be cocktails.
NORTH BEACH—There are a few more details about Tosca, which is being taken over by the New York team of April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman of The Spotted Pig. There won't be any reservations taken, and they're aiming for an early fall opening.
