Almost two months after Apple submitted plans for a new flagship store three blocks from its current Union Square location, city officials have responded with a list of changes. Most notably (especially for those who protested), Apple must incorporate the beloved bronze fountain by local artist Ruth Asawa—or or move the water sculpture to a new location. Another significant change to original plans is the revision to the signature (but very plain) Apple glass wall. City officials wish for more texture, more color, and more design features to augment the visual aesthetics of the prominent location. Three cheers for that.Esther Hahn
