PayPal is releasing Beacon by the end of the year, a three-inch long stick that allows stores to identify and authenticate PayPal users as they enter. Once connected, customers can pay via the PayPal app. Open to third-party developers, expect to see new shopping apps to roll out with the new gadget in 2014. [Via USA Today]
