SF Made is exporting its formula for creating a community around local designers and makers to Chicago. They're calling it Made in Chicago, and like SF Made, it will be a hub where local designers can find local manufacturers.
Chicago is the second largest "metropolitan manufacturing cluster" in the U.S., writes the SF Business Times, so it's the perfect place for SF Made expansion. Kate Sofis, SF Made's executive director, says New York and Atlanta are the next city's she has her eye on, with hope of ending competition for manufacturers among cities. —a "cooperative mindset," she says is essential to rejuvenate American manufacturing.
