SFO's new Terminal 3 is opening next week on January 28, making the decision to fly United a whole lot sweeter. You'll find the usual airport-retailer spread, including Tech Showcase, XpresSpa, and See's Candy, but beyond that, the terminal will also feature a rotating roster of pop-ups. SFO has offered six-month leases for smaller spaces so local retailers can test the airport retail waters before taking the full plunge. The first two pop-ups to give it a try are Marin-based McEvoy Ranch (purveyor of olive oils) and Berkeley-based Collector Art Shop.

"The airport is traditionally a hard space for retailers to break into," SFO spokesperson Dough Yakel tells the SF Business Times. "By creating move-in ready space, it'll be easier for small business to gain a toe hold and test the water here [without a significant initial investment]." If the stores fare well, they'll have the option to move into permanent locations throughout the airport. Want to see the new terminal but not flying United anytime soon? Reserve a (free!) ticket here for Saturday's "Community Day" event, no flight required.
