Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We've bid adieu to 2013 and we've newly rung in 2014. It's that time of year for reflection and hope for the future, so, like last year, we asked local fashion gurus—stylists, PR mavens, bloggers—to weigh in on what they loved in 2013, and what they're looking forward to for the coming year. We've covered favorite stores to shop in 2013, and best retail newcomers, the best shopping neighborhood of the year. Here, they answer: "What was your best purchase of 2013?"

Alexandra Bigley of SF Shop Girl with her 3.1 Phillip Lim Mini Pashli

Natalie Goel of Like Fresh Laundry: "Vintage leather safari chairs on Craigslist"

Lauren Podoll, co-founder of The Podolls: "It's a tie between my 6397 loose skinny jeans and Freda Salvador STARR boots."

Alexandra Bigley of SF Shop Girl: "3.1 Phillip Lim Mini Pashli Bag"

Tammy Eckenswiller, stylist: "Celine patent smoking slippers"

Heidi Ware, fashion director at eBay: "If I'm being practical since I wore them to death: black Barney's booties and Citizens Rocket jeans (no muffin top!!)"

Erin Hiemstra of Apartment 34: "Chloe boots that I intend to wear for years"
