Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

It's the end of an era when Lombardi Sports closes later this year to make way for a condo development. The family owned and run store has been a mainstay in SF since 1948, (in this location since 1993), and is a favorite source for activewear, sports equipment, and services. The impending demolition of the 50,000-square-foot space will allegedly allow for the construction of a "six-story building, with 62 condos over ground floor retail and underground parking," SocketSite reports. The store will be sorely missed by this active city, especially customers who loved the annual rooftop sample sale. Plan a visit to 1600 Jackson Street—one of the last remaining stores with free underground parking—to say your goodbyes before it's too late.
