The latest SoulCycle buzz may be that proposed third location in the former Castro Diesel store, but that outpost is easily a year away. The SoMA studio, on the other hand, is so close. We've been discussing Soul SF 2.0 —and speculating about when classes will start— since April. Today, we have word from a company rep that the studio is scheduled to open in December.
Soul SOMA will be located at 75 1st Street, near Mission, in Fifty Freemont. First and Mission may seem like an odd choice, but it makes more sense when you start looking at the location on Google maps. While it's a five-block stroll from the Montgomery and Embarcadero Muni/BART stations, that's not an unreasonable hike for a client on the way to a 45-minuute cardio class. More important than the distance to transit is the proximity to an important future neighbor. Salesforce Tower, which will be the largest building in the western U.S., is currently being built at 101 1st Street. The 61-story tower is slated to open in 2017, and we're guessing that the Soul crew is banking on a steady stream of Salesforce employees filling classes for many years to come.
