Oscar the Airedale Is the Hardest-Lounging Dog on Valencia

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

This is Store Sidekicks, an occasional, end-of-the-week feature in which we profile the fuzzy wuzzy creatures who inhabit shops around the city. If you'd like to nominate your favorite store animal, drop us a line at sf@racked.com.

Andrew Soernsen and Mark Morris are the eyes and minds behind Aggregate Supply and Turk + Taylor, but they know that the best salesperson in their Valencia Street store isn't a person at all: It's Oscar, the Airedale Terrier. Oscar is only a year and a half old, but he's already a working dog. You can find him lounging by the front door of the store five days a week, luring customers in from the street. (Andrew admits that dozens of people walk in daily to meet the pup.) In his downtime from holding court with his adoring public, Oscar is either napping or posing for photos. Search for him with the tag #OscartheAiredale, or follow @turkandtaylor on Instagram for more snaps. While you're at it, tell Andrew and Mark that Oscar needs his own social media presence. This fashion dog is destined to be a star.
