Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Brittany Hampton may live in Los Angeles now, but she was born and raised here in San Francisco, where her grandmother, Crisanta Malig, is also a designer. Hampton even stuck around for college, graduating from FIDM's SF campus. So yes, she defected to SoCal, but we're still rooting for this Bay Area native to conquer E!'s reality competition, House of DVF. The show will follow Brittany and seven other candidates as they compete to become Diane Von Furstenberg's first-ever Global Brand Ambassador.
According to E!, the women will "attempt to learn the ropes of the fashion industry under Diane's mentorship while taking their careers to the next level," but it looks like Brittany's career is already going well. At 23, she became head stylist for Nickelodeon nationwide. Now 25, Brittany's celebrity clients include young Hollywood names like Ariana Grande, Jenette McCurdy, Cymphonique, and Jaden Smith. We'll see if that experience pays off when House of DVF premieres on November 2.
