Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Bay Area's first PBteen will open in Mill Valley next Friday, November 7th, with contests, giveaways, and DJs spinning all weekend long. Beyond the initial festivities, the store will be anchored around a Design Lab, where kids and/or their parents can digitally create a personalized room with the help of an on-site "design expert." Yes, teenagers are pretty much the worst, but try to overlook the "teen" modifier in the name. The company makes a lot of great beds (up to queen size) that have built-in storage; perfect for San Francisco apartments. The bedding and bean bag chairs won't work for a self-respecting adult, but there's still furniture, a few whimsical rugs, and faux-fur pillows that could blend into a grown-up home.
