Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Fall is finally here. As much as I'm looking forward to the holiday season, my hands are already showing the telltale signs of colder, drier weather. They're a reminder that I need to stock up on the most magical hand cream for chapped hands. Made by Soap & Paper, the shea butter formula goes on like velvet and instantly soothes and moisturizes without leaving an oily residue. If you won't take the tip from me, just know that Sofia Coppola also uses it in her daily beauty routine. So by using this cream, you're basically twinning with Sofia and becoming soft-hands friends for life.
The citrus-scented Bella is Sofia's fave, but for an SF-centric scent, choose Midnight, which is "inspired by a certain Jasmine patch at the top of Dolores Park—when the fog is thick, the air is cool and the moon is out," the brand explains. New additions for winter and the holidays include seasonal scents like Winter Vanilla, Frosted Pine, and my personal favorite, Creamy Peppermint. Find the hand creams at local boutiques like Lavish and Azalea in Hayes Valley or at Beauty Company in Russian Hill. And if you fall in love with a scent, pick up the accompanying candle for double the S&P fun.
