A second wave of luxury brands is opening at Westfield Valley Fair. Saint Laurent, CH Carolina Herrera, and Bottega Veneta will join Balenciaga, Giorgio Armani, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Miu Miu later this month. We already expected the former two brands, but Bottega Veneta is a new addition to an already packed roster of savings-draining boutiques. The luxury wing at the Santa Clara mall now rivals Union Square. It just might be a sign that Silicon Valley is trading in those vested, startup stock options and investing in luxury products. There's certainly enough money in the area to afford a new handbag—or two.
