Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Your shopping may be done and all your presents wrapped, but there's still a compelling reason to head out to the stores for just one more round today. The toy drive at Lefty O'Doul's in Union Square needs contributions. The need for toys for the city's underprivileged youth is "profound," Lee Houskeeper, spokesperson for the restaurant and bar, tells SF Weekly.
"When we started calling around to find out the need [for toys], we found this year the need is so much greater," Houskeeper continues. So throw on that rain jacket and boots and head out into the light rain to load up on toys. The Ark, Ambassador Toys, and Jeffrey's Toys are just some options that are open today (although closing on the earlier side). Or visit one of the Union Square stores with accommodating holiday hours. The toy drive goes until 11pm tonight so there's plenty of time to make a toy donation happen. It's only a couple hours for you but it could mean the world to a young child.
