Walking into the Sui Generis women's store is a fashion Rorshach test. Which items will speak to you in a shop full of crushable high-end labels? The Yves Saint Laurent doctor's bag? The winter white Ralph Lauren separates? The Prada skirt? The many, many Oscar de la Renta dresses? The killer selection at Sui Generis is hardly a secret —the consignment shop is consistently listed among the city's best— but the new, Cow Hollow location makes the store more geographically-accessible to the Marina girls who want to dress like Pac Heights ladies.
While owners Miguel Lopez and Gabriel Yanez have spent the last eight years running their stores in the Castro, Lopez tells Racked that the pair always wanted to open a women's store on Union. They spent a year looking for the perfect location and finishing the space with interior designer Richard Westbrook. (Westbrook has also worked on the other Sui Generis locations.) The finished space features glam black and gold fixtures, bleached wood floors, and a pyramid-studded cash wrap. It's a one-of-a-kind space to shop for one-of-a-find designer pieces.
