Eddie Bauer celebrated the grand opening of the new outpost in Union Square (128 Post Street) last night with a glamorous bang. Well, a bang that resembled an interesting twist on glamping. San Franciscans filled the brand-new store wearing a mix of suits and rugged, outdoorsy-inspired outfits. Waiters passed around tuna tartare and venison bites while guests checked out heavy flannels, puffy jackets, and boots that could survive a rough Canadian winter.

Bloggers like Krystal Bick and Geri Hirsch chatted with partygoers, and people wandered the store with wine and hot toddys. And while beautiful people are great, the star of the night was the Twitter-activated vending machine dispensing tickets for free down jackets. Puffy jackets aren't totally my style, but these were both the lightest and warmest things I've worn in a while. But that vending machine? Tweet something with some time-specific hashtags and it immediately dispenses a gift card. This, in itself, is a reason to visit the store.

And if you need a puffy jacket, you're heading to the right place.

Correction: An earlier version of this article relied on correspondence from a public relations firm stating that actor Joe Manganiello would be a guest at the party. A representative from the firm tells Racked that Mr. Manganiello was unable to attend the event, but by no means a no show.
