Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The sole San Francisco outpost of LA-based brand Cisco Home is closing. Owner Cisco Pinedo tells Hayeswire, "We don't like the idea of losing our home, but we get that SF needs more housing." The building at 580 Hayes, which has played host to the store for the past five years, is due to go under construction for a new mixed-use development. So by early April, the environmentally-friendly home furnishings, made with natural or recycled materials, will be gone from this location. Much of the stock is currently on sale (up to 75% off) but what doesn't sell will either move to the Palo Alto store, which is opening in a few weeks or go into storage until a new SF location is found. It's even possible that the store could return to the same location once construction is completed. Until then, stay tuned for word on future pop-up locations while Cisco Home finds a more permanent SF situation.
