Katy Perry is the first Twitter user in history to pass the 50 million followers mark, surpassing Justin Beiber (granted, his star has been falling of late), President Obama, and Lady Gaga. Perry, a pop singer with a penchant for sparkle, black eyeliner and rainbow-colored hair, has the most Twitter followers of anyone ever. Who would have thought a simple technology born in San Francisco that lets you to share communiques no longer than 140 characters could cause such a fuss? We asked Twitter if they're planning some kind of party... or maybe they'll send her an Oscar-style trophy? No word back yet, but if it's a party, Twitter peeps, please send our invitation sf@racked.com, thanks!
