Fashion week in New York, A.K.A. NYFW, is an exciting and bustling time for folks in the industry. For everyone else, it's a glamorous, vaguely mysterious event. So to lift the veil a bit, we surveyed several San Franciscans who are headed to The Big Apple for the fit of runway shows and street style opps to find out what exactly they'll be doing there. Yes, these are their jobs. But don't be too jealous. Beneath the glitz and glamour is often quite a bit of foot pain and general exhaustion. Read on for what some Bay Area locals will be getting up to at NYFW.

Who are you and what do you do?
"Nina Louie, social media manager for eBay Fashion. My favorite part of my job is editing our blog, Style Stories.
Where do you live?
I grew up in San Francisco, and I live in North Beach. I'm proof that locals actually live there. Families, too."
When and for how long with you be there?
"I'll be in NYC for the first half of fashion week, February 6-11. That's about as long as I can stand to be away from my beautiful daughter."
What show/s are you most excited about?
"Believe it or not, I'm not in NYC to attend the shows. I'm here to shoot street style. NYFW is the best time and place to gather gorgeous looks to feature on the blog."
What do you hope to accomplish while you're there?
"Every day that I'm here, my photographer and I will be risking hypothermia to capture as many amazing looks as we can. We'll be out on the streets talking to people about what they're wearing, spreading the word about eBay's fashion blog, and snapping away!"

Who are you and what do you do?
"Marc Reagan, manager of artistry and PRO team artist for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. I am lucky enough to work one-on-one with Bobbi Brown herself. Traveling the globe as an educator and ambassador of the brand, I help further artists' skill set in makeup application and technique."
Where do you live?
"San Francisco"
When and for how long are you headed to fashion week?
"I am currently in NYC working backstage at the shows while managing our artists' schedules and participation from February 5 through 14."
What show/s are you most excited about?
"I am most excited about the Veronica Beard show, for which I was lead artist this past Wednesday. The look was inspired by the 70's rock n' roll styles on the strip in Beverly Hills. Edgy but modern. I'm looking forward to Misha Nonoo tomorrow and Porsche Design on Sunday."
What do you hope to accomplish while you're there?
"I hope to gain more inspiration from the creative environments and further grow my abilities as an artist and educator."

Who are you and what do you do?
"I run an online and catalog business called Artful Home. We sell work by fantastic American artists, designers, and fine craftspeople."
Where do you live?
"I live in San Francisco, Russian Hill."
When and for how long are you headed to fashion week?
"I'm just going for a quick trip. I head out tonight, Thursday and will be back on Sunday."
What show/s are you most excited about?
"My whole trip revolves around one show: Zana Bayne. It is Zana's first solo NYFW runway show after prior collaborations with Prabal Gurung. She had an outstanding collection launch in Paris in the fall, and this collection announces her major move to wholesale in addition to her couture and online business. This should be fantastic after a year in which Beyonce wore her pieces in her newest album and Madonna was featured in many Zana pieces in that grey November Bazaar piece."
What do you hope to accomplish while you're there?
"See Zana's collection, wear some of her newest pieces (custom made for me, her mom!)"
Stay tuned for more San Franciscans at NYFW next week!
