Former San Francisco Willie Brown's girlfriend, Sonya Molodetskaya, is embracing the high-low approach to dressing just like the rest of us. The fashion enthusiast who sits on SF's Immigrant Rights Commission tells the SF Chronicle that her favorite places to shop are Wilkes Bashford for Kimberly McDonald geode and diamond jewelry, Barneys for Rag & Bone, Opening Ceremony, Helmut Lang, Zara for "short little skirts" and vintage shops in the Haight for caftans.
Molodetskaya holds a degree in civil engineering from Moscow State University and immigrated to the U.S. in 1996. She says the clothing in Russia were drab and dark, so she's now drawn to brights and neons and likes to "take risks." She encourages women to "wear colors and not be afraid to be judged by people. Life is too short!" Here, here!
