Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Basic Training's crowd-funded 24-hour fitness hub at Proxy SF is nearly complete. The bootcamp updates its followers on Facebook that the holes are drilled and construction is in its final stages. Once the pavement is sealed and painted and the monkey bars are welded and the lighting is installed, Basic Training's homebase will be open for free use outside the scheduled classes and events. Proxy SF's architecture firm Envelope A+D is behind the design and will help blend the urban workout hub with the neighboring retail structure made entirely from shipping containers. For regular updates on construction, follow Basic Training's Instagram or sign up for the newsletter here.
