From Union Square to Union Street, Nike's complete domination of the Unions is nearly complete. San Francisco's second Nike store will open on Friday, May 16 at 2071 Union Street, almost a month before its Equinox neighbors. On the roster for Friday festivities? A special Nike Training Club event led by Nike Master Trainer Ryan Lauderdale and NTC Trainers Jackie Ho and Shannon Wong. While the grand opening workout is already full, you can still stop by the store and spend money on running gear for Bay to Breakers.
Nike is billing the new outpost as a "hub where personal training meets personal shopping and styling," and with Crunch, Pilates ProWorks, SoulCycle, and the soon-to-open Equinox within steps of the store, the company has planted itself near its target audience. Let's see if that approach helps the world's largest athletic apparel retailer poach some of Lululemon's post-workout shoppers.
