On a trip through South of Market yesterday, we noticed signs for Avant Barre in the windows of the former Ma Maison space. The fitness company, which currently offers classes at the Metronome dance studio at 1830 17th Street in Potrero Hill, confirms on its Facebook page that it will have a SoMa studio to call its own in the next few weeks.
Workout options for the many tech workers in the area are slim, so the location should be a boon for Avant Barre. The workout was created by dancer Char "Nini" Gueco and includes a heavy dose of cardio and core-strengthening exercises. Check out our review of the sweat fest, it made Esther discover muscles she'd never felt before—and she's both a surfer and an equestrian.
