Banana Republic x Marimekko Is Nearly Gone in Union Square

Banana Republic just launched its collaboration with iconic textile brand Marimekko yesterday, and almost everything has already been snapped up at the Union Square location. The editor at our sister site Curbed SF, Sally Kuchar, was there when the store opened yesterday. The line was only about 12-people deep—nevertheless, she found that the polka-dot patio skirt she coveted was sold out in all but sizes 0 and 2, though she did nab the super cute Siirtolapuutarha peplum top. Apparently, Banana allowed shoppers to buy online and reserve in store, which decimated the stock.

Says Sally:

... the stuff went live on the website early [Wednesday] night, even though it's been promoted as something that was going to drop on May 22. When I got in at 10am (third person in and that's when they open), it was dire. There was like, so little merchandise. They only had two of the very wonderful skirt in size 0 and 2.

As of today, the coveted skirt is completely gone, as is nearly everything else. A sales associate tells us it's possible the store will get some restock on Tuesday, but we advise giving a call before you make a special trip. A few pieces are still available online.
