Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

It's SFMade Week, a week-long celebration of the brands that choose to make their products right here in SF. It's no easy task to produce locally: our city has the highest minimum wage in the country (at $10.55 an hour) and limited space. This week's events offer the opportunity to discover these undaunted manufacturers through factory tours, pop-up shops, demos, and sales. There's also the annual fundraiser event Ramp It Up! this Wednesday, May 7, from 6 to 9pm at the SFDC. Tickets are $25 and VIP entry is $125. All proceeds from the event and its silent auction will go toward SFMade's programs that help build a vibrant manufacturing sector in SF.
