Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

San Francisco Tennis Club members fended off a potential bulldozing of their recreational space in 2008 when a developer planned to build more than 500 condos in the club's place. But now, their luck seems to have run out: York Capital Management and San Francisco-based JMA Ventures have bought the building, and Socketsite is betting that condos are coming soon. The site is approved for a 65-foot (about six stories) building, but "a pending Central SoMa Plan could up-zone the Tennis Club site for development up to 200-feet in height," the website writes.

For posterity's sake, check out our photo shoot with hot trainer Nathan Ng last year at the Bay Tennis Club. And stay tuned, the 2014 Hottest Trainer contest is coming up in August!
