UNION SQUARE—One of the year's biggest openings goes down today, as Aveline, the first restaurant from Top Chef's Casey Thompson, and sister bar The European, with cocktails from a Beretta vet, debut in Union Square. Look around and see menus.

NOB HILL—After 28 years, Hubert Keller's Fleur de Lys is calling it quits. Definitely the end of an era in SF fine dining.
