If you haven't yet witnessed Kayu's chic, beachy clutches, now would be a great time to get to know this SF-based accessories brand. The resort 2015 collection is out, with whimsical designs featuring beaded zebra print, clamshell shapes, agate clasps and mother of pear inlay. The collection also includes a roomy handwoven straw carryall, so your days at the beach are covered as well as your evenings.
Kayu's founder, Jamie Lim, grew up in Southeast Asia surrounded by artisanal crafts, but she noticed that the the artists and their work were slowly disappearing. So she created her handbag, shoes and accessories brand to support craftspeople in Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia, where the products are made using ancient techniques with a modern design sensibility. Kayu also donates a portion of each sale to healthcare and educational initiatives in those countries.
Check out the video above to get an inside peek at Kayu's exotic resort 2015 photo shoot in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The bags will be available in the fall—in the meantime shop their current collections (and sales) here!
