Everyone brings the same three host gifts to a party. A bottle of wine. A cookbook. A tea towel. If you really want to stand out from the cocktail crowd, you have to up your gift-giving game. This laser-etched muddler from San Francisco's Libation Lab should do the trick.

The hand-turned maple muddler ($52) is carved on an antique lathe, and finished with a laser-engraved Shel Silverstein quote, "Never explain what you do. It speaks for itself.
