Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

O'Lover Hats is shutting down operations, but —for once— it's not a rent-related issue. Designer Elwyn Crawford announced earlier this year that she has closed her business to "pursue a new way of life." (We hear that she's moving to Paris. Ooh, la, la!) Sadly, this means that we can no longer find Elwyn's beautiful, hand-blocked hats at Metis Makers, the North Beach shop that she co-founded last year with fellow designers from Oakland's 25th Street Collective. Metis Makers is currently looking for for another designer who manufactures "locally, sustainably, responsibly and ethically" to move into space. If that sounds like you or a designer you know, you can connect with the group through Storefront.
