It's a busy time for local store owners Catherine Chow and Corina Nurimba. The fashion power duo behind Azalea, Rand + Statler, and Welcome Stranger recently opened a second outpost for Azalea in the Mission and are now preparing a second Welcome Stranger store across the Bay Bridge in Berkeley. The men's clothing store is playing coy on the exact opening date, only divulging via Instagram that the new digs at 2633 Ashby will be in business "very soon." A construction worker at the site tells Berkeleyside that the date could be as early as this week. So be on the look out for the chance to shop the in-house collection —in addition to other fan favorites like Zig-Zag and Barbour— by the weekend. And next time you see the chic shop ladies Catherine and Corina, wish them congrats on expanding their mini empire beyond Hayes Valley.
