MARIN—Take a moonlit stroll through Muir Woods on Tuesday, September 9 while learning about the towering redwoods in the forest. This special walk begins a half hour after sunset, and concludes when the docent says it's over. (Estimated to be about two hours.) Listen for wildlife, and use your senses —and flashlight— to make your way through the trails. [Sosh/NPS]
MISSION— Get monochromatic in Black or White and dust off your Raspberry Beret: There's a Michael Jackson and Prince dance party at Public Works (161 Erie Street) on Saturday starting at 9 p.m. DJ Dave Paul will play music from the King of Pop and the Purple One, as well as songs by ancillary acts. Tickets, starting at $8, are available here. [SFGate]
TREASURE ISLAND— The Treasure Island flea market is celebrating the Dog Days of Summer —and perhaps a belated National Dog Day— with canine-themed vendors August 30-31. Find an array of pet products from doggie bow ties and shoes, to locally sourced and home made treats. There will also a happy (yappy?) hour with buy one, get one Salty Dogs before noon. A little hair of the dog to go with the theme, eh? The market is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $3.
