Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

RetroSpecs & Co. is a mainstay on Racked LA's annual list of the best sunglass shops in town. Lucky for us, we're getting our very own store, next door to the newly opened Eres in Hayes Valley. The eyewear brand specializes in one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted frames and also offers ace restoration of antique spectacles.

"San Francisco will be our third location [in addition to the flagship in LA and an outpost in Vegas] and the closest to our hearts," Creative Director Marya Francis tells Hoodline. "I grew up in Berkeley and my husband/partner and founder of RetroSpecs originally started the company in SF but thought he might do more prop business and so moved to Los Angeles." No word yet on the opening date, but we'll be sure to let you know when the doors are open and when you can schedule a session with the resident optician and style specialists.
