Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
There's a new shopping app that's applying combining the thrill of an auction with the frenzy of a flash sale. It's called Peach and the SF-based startup hosts nine-minute, virtual, private auctions of designer brand items. To the winner go the spoils—but at only the second-highest bidding price. The trends are hand-selected by the fashionistas behind the app, and the quality goods that are up for bid are rarely ever on sale. So what's the catch? The app is by membership only. Apply here to (hopefully) gain access. It may be a tedious step, but for a possible 80 percent discount on Prada, it's totally peachy.
