Local denim brands like Levi's, Gustin, and Tellason are pretty hush hush when it comes to talking about where in SF they're manufacturing their jeans. "I probably shouldn't say," Gustin's co-founder Josh Gustin tells the Chronicle. "It's really hard to get into it." But that very reporter from that very pub persevered through the dead ends to track down the location with minimal digging. It's Seamaid Manufacturing located within Skyblue Sewing Manufacturing. And it's where it takes at least seven steps and two-and-a-half hours to make one pair of jeans. But now that you know where it is, don't expect to get in anytime soon. Howard Gee of North Beach's AB Fits tells the Chron, "You have to be pretty far along [in your denim design process] to work with them." Now that you know, you better finalize those patterns so you can finally set your denim-making dreams in motion.
