Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Renovations at the Haight Street Goodwill are complete. The 80s-designed space was in desperate need of refresh, and now it's ready for the big reveal. Okay, maybe it's not an Extreme Makeover-style surprise: The store stayed open during construction, and Goodwill has already posted its before and after photos here. But the newly-organized setup and the new industrial-chic look are still reasons to celebrate.
The reopening also overlaps with the store's 25th anniversary. Stop in tomorrow, September 18 starting at 11 am for the official event. Goodwill is offering an extra 25 percent off, and there will be Halloween candy and music on tap. If the new digs don't convince you to make this your main Goodwill, the new digital donation touchscreen system that sends your donation tax form to you via email surely will.
