· The annual Friends & Family Sale at HeidiSays officially starts tomorrow, but the store is granting early access to the sale today for its Facebook friends. So be sure to click the "Like" button here then hurry over to the three locations on Fillmore Street (at 2426 Fillmore, 2416 Fillmore, and 2105 Fillmore) to score a 20 percent discount on your purchase (sale items, excluded) now through Tuesday, September 30.

· Fifty years is quite an achievement for an annual event, and it's even better when that event combines a sale with a good cause. So three cheers for the Big Book Sale that's reached the big five-oh this year and is happening through the weekend, 10am to 6pm daily, at Fort Mason Center's Festival Pavilion. Everything, from hardcover and paperback books to CDs and vinyls, is $3 or less, and anything remaining on Sunday will be just $1. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the San Francisco Public Library's education programs. Join in on the action and help make this year's numbers the best yet.
