Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Let's dispense with the bad news: The Bold Italic shop is closing. At the end of January, your online emporium for gifts like San Francisco map scarves and In Fog We Trust totes will be gone. Even worse, many of the whimsical textiles and home goods are no longer available. Some of those were exclusive to TBI shop, so you're out of luck if you were biding your time before buying. The good news —if there can be good news in the face of all this sadness— is that the remaining items in the shop are at least 50% off. There's no more jewelry, but you can still find San Francisco posters ($5-$20) and TBI's infamous postcards ($8). The good stuff is going fast; if you want it, you better buy it now.
